SCOTTY SHAW is an expert in technology-and-entrepreneurship educational events that are popularly known in Silicon Valley as "hackathons". Having helped create HackDuke, Scotty went on to establish and serve as the founding president of Tech Tree Root, a 501c3 tech education nonprofit (EIN 83-3634028).
In only four semesters, he single-handedly transformed the digital desert of the South Central United States by introducing the concept and by launching events for every major school throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
During the pandemic, Scotty helped create the EUvsVirus Hackathon + Matchathon by serving as the European Commission's CTO. As the largest hackathon ever, this global online event hosted 30,000+ talented participants, identified more than 2,500 innovative solutions, and generated over 2,500 (and counting!) new partnerships to defeat coronavirus.
Afterwards, he worked with VetsinTech to support their network of 50,000+ veterans by launching the RALLYtoUS + VetsinTech Online Hackathon.
Now, as a founding partner of The Proximity Effect, he seeks to combine technology, production, and entertainment to highlight impactful leaders and inspire others to focus on lifelong growth that nurtures and nourishes their best selves.
